Research Options for Disposal of Dredged Material from Navigable Rivers in the County

Overview

County staff was directed to research and make recommendations, in coordination with the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, the Virginia Marine Resource Commission, and the US Army Corps of Engineers, for a location and facility to dispose of silt from navigable rivers and marinas in the County. Local, State, and Federal funding opportunities should also be explored as part of this research. Alternatives sites for disposal, and funding sources should be developed for consideration by the Board.
