Overview

Direct the County Executive to work with County staff to prepare for the Board's consideration resolutions and accompanying recommendations to initiate Small Area Plans (SAPs) for Potomac Mills and Tackett’s Mill to guide the strategic revitalization and redevelopment of these key areas in the Occoquan District and Prince William County. These plans should provide a comprehensive vision addressing land use, zoning, infrastructure, mobility, redevelopment, sustainability and economic development opportunities within the Potomac Mills and Tackett’s Mill areas, respectively. Additionally, as part of the SAPs, staff should explore incorporating the new financial incentives and other tools to unlock redevelopment potential being developed by the Department of Economic Development and Tourism. Staff should also consider Market Studies to be initiated by the Department of Economic Development and Tourism as part of the Small Area Planning process for both areas. The County Attorney’s Office is directed to review the information and recommendations for any legal issues. When the evaluation and work is complete, the County Executive should report back to the Board with recommendations for the resolutions during a Board meeting or by memorandum, as appropriate.
