Overview

Supervisor LaCroix would like to direct the County Executive to work with the Department of Parks and Recreation, the Prince William Area Agency on Aging, and the Department of Facilities and Fleet Management to jointly review and evaluate near-term options to assist seniors with and accessibly between the Hylbrook Park parking lot parking area and the Woodbridge Senior Center. The evaluation by staff should, among other things, consider practical service options that address anticipated use and service hours; County staffing, vehicle, equipment, and accessibility needs; safety, operational, and liability considerations; one-time and ongoing costs; potential funding sources; and an estimated implementation timeline. In developing options and recommendations, the County Executive should not consider, evaluate, or recommend that existing Area Agency on Aging staff are reassigned in a manner that interferes with their existing primary program, operational, and member-service responsibilities. The County Attorney’s Office is directed to review the information and recommendations for any legal issues. When the research and work are complete, the County Executive should report back to the Board with the research and recommendations during a Board meeting or by memorandum, as appropriate.
