Arts Commission

Overview

The County Arts community continues to grow at a fast pace. The need to better leverage that growth and ensure we have the most effective oversight to assist the Board in making appropriate investments into the Arts community is critical. The County Executive was directed to work with staff to develop a recommendation for a new framework to leverage the power of the arts in advancing our Strategic Plan and Comprehensive Plan goals. The approach should empower our community arts partners to amplify their impact while also maintaining an appropriate mechanism for advisory support to the Board. Recommendations should consider governance and engagement options, budget implications, and any other initiatives that will better position the County to meet the growing needs of the Arts community. The County Attorney's Office was directed to review the information and recommendations for any legal issues. When the work is complete, the County Executive should report back to the Board with their recommendations during a Board meeting or by memorandum, as they determine appropriate.
