Overview

The County Executive and staff were directed to temporarily stop work on the Data Center Opportunity Zone Overlay District Zoning Text Amendment, which was initiated on March 3rd. This includes directing the County Executive and staff not to advertise and hold the Planning Commission public hearing, which is currently planned for June 10th. Since the Board initiated this ZTA, the Brentsville Magisterial Office has received a lot of good, constructive feedback on it from the community and industry. Based on that feedback and one-on-one discussions with colleagues, there is a strong opportunity, with some changes, to achieve a better final product for this ZTA that is more agreeable and positive for the community and industry. Therefore, the County Executive and staff are directed to temporarily stop work on the ZTA to allow an opportunity to finalize proposed changes and discuss them with stakeholders and colleagues one-on-one. The plan is to bring the revised ZTA to the June 2nd meeting for initiation.
