Overview

On February 20, 2024, the Board adopted Ordinance Number (Ord. No.) 24-02, which amended County Code Section 14-4(b). This amendment of the Noise Ordinance limited the exception for heating and cooling systems from the nighttime maximum permissible sound levels to systems serving residential dwellings. The Board also included a sunset clause for this provision, which will expire on February 20, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. County staff is directed to draft the proposed amendment and schedule a public hearing on February 18, 2025, to allow the Board to consider extending the sunset clause for this provision until February 18, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. The extension of the sunset clause will provide County staff the time needed to assess the noise impacts associated with data centers and develop recommended changes to the Noise Ordinance for the Board's consideration.
